I ask this here because I'm off to the shops tomorrow and don't want to come back with a new engine and a silly hat to go with it.

I checked the oil this morning and cross threaded the cap on the way back in (silly hat needed!)... When I got to the destination ( 2km ride) the smoke, I believe it was squirting oil on my radiator, notified me of the issue! After checking the engine, once it had cooled, the dip has only a smigen on the bottom... There was oil there when it was still hot however.


The oil light wasn't on and it still turns fine. Do I just full it up with suitable oil (from the manual) and go again? Am I safe to assume the cap was the only issue here? (Would seem to be but I don't want to brick my engine!)
