Yes you are right. I took it for a ride just now (night) to figure out when it cuts out exactly. Bumps didnt seem to do anything. However, the lo did black out every then and when but only for a split second and then go back on. Then suddenly complete darkness. Scary as heck at night! I would quickly switch on the high beam then back to lo and it would be normal again. This happened continuosly. Later I stopped under a street light and checked the cables and wires and lo and behold whenever I moved the lo beam's connectors it would cut out. I discond them and the cond them back securely. I pulled the wires around to check the connection but the light stayed on. And it stayed on the whole way home. No black outs, no cut outs. No problems. So yes, check the snap connectors thoroughly!
