Simon is on a distinguished road
Ok so time for a update.

the tyres are at around 1.5k to 1.8k (i didn't record my starting mileage) for the last few months i've found 26psi worked well for me.

on some roads the bike will start to weave at around 60mph but you get used to it and it's never felt dangerous.

the rear is about 3/4 worn now in the middle and with the step off from the flat spot it's good fun for a bit of gentle drifting.

now the front is a different story, with working shifts i'm always commuting in the dark so when doing my pressures it's often by torch light so i don't give things the look over i probably should, so anyway the front recently began to develop a bit of a slide on some bends and felt it had lost some grip, it turns out the blocks aren't wearing evenly. the centre line has a 4 block pattern that repeats all the way round, some are fairly central, others go off to the side and there's one lot that has a line cut into it. anyway there is a difference off roughly 2mm between the blocks with slits and the main central block, following it round it's clear there is a distinct difference in the block heights. I think it's this odd wear pattern that is causing the front to drift on some bends.

This has surprised me as for years it was always the rears going long before the fronts, with the front behaving as it is i will be swapping out the maxxis at my first chance and drawing my conclusion on these tyres.

So apart from my issue with the front how have i been getting on with them? Honestly i'm enjoying them, at the moment all the road work i've done have been wet, greasy, muddy country lanes (B roads) and despite all the slips and slides they just do not let go properly, the tyre has always managed to find grip again without any drama. there seems to be little feedback from the tyre so you have to learn to trust it.

So far as the off road side of it goes i've not done as much as i'd of liked but on fairly packed surfaces there have been no dramas, but as the tread is wearing away i'm finding the softer stuff becoming a little more challenging.
