Tyres are a subjective business and you’ll get as many opinions as there are tyres!
For me TKC80 are my personal 50/50 preference, but they have their drawbacks – poor wear rate at the rear, wobbly steering over 70/75mph. There is no promised land of the “do-it-all” tyre, they’re all a compromise in one way or another. In the end you just have to go with your gut feeling, try something out and if you like it, great, and if you don’t… well move on and try something else.
I’ve always found
Oponeo to be most cost effective for tyres.
You will have to fit a tube whatever tyre you choose, but you can use tubed type (TT) or tubeless type (TL) tyres on the XTZ.
You can go 130/80 or 140/80 on the rear, so don't worry if you can only get certain brands in the 140 size.
Speed rating is usually an S or an H, but anything down to a Q (99mph) are fine on an XTZ, so don't worry too much about that either.
