Many thanks for the photos, information and advice. I've had another go, but it's no better. The more I try and the more I look at your photos the more convinced I become that the top bend in my link pipe has not been bent enough to achieve a fitting. As I swing the link pipe anti clockwise, the silencer just starts to point further out and won't clear the pannier rail. If I turn it clockwise, the silencer can just clear the pannier rail, but by that time is touching the top back section of the pannier rail and almost the subframe.

I'm going to request a new link pipe. So for now, back on with the standard pipes, but having just installed the Kev modes, an OTR filter and having removed the snorkel, I think I have enough new stuff to look forward to on my next ride!
