Thanks Weeksy, my only concern was as a new rider the surging might catch me off guard, but once it doesn't occur in a dangerous manner.

I wouldn't be technically minded enough (yet anyway) to start drilling or chopping and changing wires in the loom to fix issues, but I wouldnt mind spending a few quid on something like a power commander if applicable.
