I have the sw motech crash bars and put them to the test yesterday on the road. Front end loss and sliding along on my side before I knew it. Apart from scratches to the crashbars and barkbusters the only easily repairable damage was the bent rear brake lever. Maybe a pivot brake lever would be better but probably would have still bent. All in all I'm impressed with the overall protection of the sw motech.
I also have sw motech pannier brackets which never touched the road, saved by the centre stand and slight graze on the rear footpeg.
