Are you going to ride a lot on the roads among other vehicles - maybe even commuting to work ?
Then I would recommend going with the ABS version.
The only reason i see for buying the non-ABS version is if your riding will benefit from the longer suspension travel.
My reason for buying the XT660Z was to upgrade to ABS from my trusty XTZ750 Super Tenere. In most disciplines the old one was just as good or better ....
Also ask yourself if you would buy a car without ABS today ? But in car you have extra wheels to keep the rubber side down when you lock up the wheels. If you lock op the front wheel in an emergency breaking on mc you have to be extremely fast to avoid crashing. On good tarmac you can normally brake good enough without the aid of ABS but if the road is suddenly slippery from diesel, oil, corn etc it is not so easy to do it properly ...
