So the next question must be why Yamaha choose to made the XT bikes with this high gearing? As I mentioned in the opening post I have owned bikes with similar power namely a Honda Dominator 650 and a Honda Transalp 600 and both of those reved around 4600-4700 when holding a speed of 100 km/h.
The XT bikes does also have only 5 gears and the usable rev range isnt exactly broad.
A 14 in front or a 48 rear will make the bike rev at approx 4250 at 100 km/h - a very easy calculation tells me...and maybe first gear ridiclousely low? Hmm....confused now....
