I had the same thing.

It wasn't the screw being too long rather an overtightening issue which pulled the bolt (that's embedded in the tank itself) out a little bit. I did a temp fix by using a red hot blade and cutting a groove around the outside of the bolt and using lots of silicone sealant.

Ultimately it's a replacement, luckily for me done under warranty.

Dealer said "overtightened at factory". Same deal with the crash panels that had hair line cracks through the bolt holes.
