A car needs number plate lamps for the MOT test but a bike doesn't - although it should have one fitted under Construction & Use regulations!

However, if you have a number plate lamp fitted to the bike it must work. Confusing eh?
At the end of the day it is all down to the tester's discretion. However, any tester worth his salt will be more than happy to advise on such issues if you ask when you book the MOT.
