Erm, it works well enough for me. Seemed to work well enough for Stoic_bloke to do the Heroes-Legend on, and he's a hell of a lot quicker than me. I think he did eventually break his last year, but they did rebuild it for him.
I've only had that and the OE shock.
On this side of the world, you can get them to build you one with 3-way damping adjustment and hydraulic preload adjustment for the price of the Ohlins with 2-way damping and grovelling around in the dirt with a c-spanner.
Not that I've actually used any of the adjustment, either they're very good at setting it up for your weight and intended use, or I'm not quick enough to notice
