heated grip connection

Hi

Just been taking off my Oxford heated grips (the ones with the **** digital controller). i never installed these so wasn't sure how it was done.

First job was to unwrap the massive ball of electrical tape!

Once i had done that, it revealed 3 connector blocks. One from the right grip, one from the left and the other from the controller.

i traced the wire that fed the controller connector. it went down along the front cowl support bar, then back up towards the clocks, through an inline fuse and into a connector block that was coming out the loom that fed the underside of the clocks.

I have Symmtec heated grip elements to replace them with. i was hoping i could just wire them into the 3 connector blocks (pic No.2).

So....here comes my quesions...

Is this a good way to connect them? doesn't it depend on how you connect them to wether or not they heat up as hot as there supposed to?

Is the connector plug coming from the clock loom the diagnostic connection? if so, what happens if my bike needs to go on the diagnostic?

Please help.....
