I would suggest that the previous owner lost the key, so had two cut and hid one on the bike in case he lost the key again.... but failed to check the keys worked first!

i need a spare key then,
when you go off touring you should have a spare key with really.....in the past i took one of the "copy" keys so not to loose the master RED key.....but at the time i thought a copy key would start the bike
