Welcome to the pack mate.

My 09 r does exactly the same from time to time as i commute on it 12 months of the year, foggy weather is when it happens most.
Carry a tin of wd40 and if it doesnt start straight away dont keep trying and flood it but remove the plug lead and squirt wd inside the end and all over the lead and coil, refit plug lead and it should fire up. This works for me and now Ive sussed it it doesnt cause me any great inconvenience, if however you flood it it seems to be a right pain in the 4r5e and takes forever to start, the key is dont flood it.

Hope this helps, and happy riding.
