The battery isn't under the tank.... unless they have changed the design recently. The battery is under the seat and it's a couple of bolts to remove it, but I can't see why you would need to remove it.

The battery is under the tank on all ABS models as the ABS gubbins is under the seat where the battery would normally be.
Sorry missieeg, can't be of help with accessing the battery under the tank really, as I guess by the sound of it there are some differences between the mountings for the ABS and non-ABS models. If you just want to get at the battery to get a power feed for accessories, then there are charging connections (and main fuse) behind the right hand grey plastic tank cover.
