Sounds more like you got some water ingress, either electric, or through the airbox maybe?
Have you removed the snorkel ?

Nope snorkel is still sat inplace.

A temporary fix is a good spray of WD40 and carry a can around with you.
A permanent fix is better leads and some silicone sealant

It has stopped raining now and Im at work until 4pm. Bike will have had a chance to dry off too soo hopefully it won't give up the ghost on the way back.
