Fair comment. The above is almost always why you would fit a split charge system to a vehicle - to power accessories off a second battery while the engine is not running, leaving the vehicles own battery in good nick for its primary duties such as starting. There would be no electrical advantage running two batteries set up like this for powering accessories in normal use while on the move.
