Installation pics of GPS using spare connector under dash

There has been much talk recently about this connector and its usefulness as a switched supply. to set the record straight, Its certainly nothing to do with diagnostics at all. That was a red herring from a dealer somewhere.

Its a 12 volt switched supply and works the sat nav and my heated grips perfectly. I have done a pictoral walk thru for anyone considering using this as you can really tidy up those wires with a bit of effort. I can't cut my supply lead down for the Zumo as its not just a 12 volt supply, it has mic external receiver and headphones in it as well (see pics) I found that by removing the headlight cowl it was possible to house the sat nav cables and the hot grips control box behind it and well out of the way.

I didn't have access to a male plug so used 2.5mm spade connectors with the sat nav and hotgrips soldered on. They each have their own fuse for safety and all is well. Spades are very secure and insulated from one another before being wrapped in insulating tape
