Best of all they go with you to your next bike.
Here is link, I don't have anything to do with the company but the product is good.

And.
I am yet to find anyone who can ride an XT660 for 500km without a short break. Gee, in some European country's wouldn't 500km have you from one boarder to the other???

Ive seen these alot before and they normally get good reviews. But you still have to carry it which causes the problem of were do you put it when full? As 12kg (1litre being 1kg) is quite a bit to place high up on the rear of the bike and to place it in a pannier low down will then out balance the bike.
Ive never heard of anyone doing 500km in one go on a bike let alone an XT660. But when you start touring/adventure/off roading in main land europe there are some places where petrol is either quite far to get to (50-60miles to nearest station, sometimes they dont have petrol or are not open, youve maybe got lost and had to do alot of U turns, or when off roading alot of slow speed stuff causes your MPG to be in the low 30's etc.
Mainly its the ease of not having to go/find a petrol station every time or every other time you stop
