This is a reply I had from Gwyn, loads of free advise and a cracking service Hello Rick
I appreciate any feedback and of course any mentions on bike Forums, you will have to tell me where to look. The tyre situation is a minefield and of course ask 100 different guys about bike tyres and you will get 100 different opinions. Trelleborg is owned by Mitas and the name Trelleborg will be fased out on the tyre sidewalls over the next couple of months. The tyres will remain but will be known as Mitas X Treme in all of the product range. I will put something to that effect on my website which will also have a major overall over the next few weeks. Just for information, the Mitas / Trelleborg tyres are without doubt as good as anything that you can get. They are not a cheap tyre as is perceived, they are real superior quality but the prices can be kept down because there are no reps out on the road running around in company cars. They also spend nothing on marketing which is why they are simply not that well known. The range for the big Trail bikes is now getting better and better and will continue to do so over the comming months. If you look on my web site sometime at the Mitas E-09, we used them recently on BMW F800 GS machines in Portugal and they were fantastic. These are quite an aggresive tyre though so obviously life span would not be great but easily compared with the Continental TKC's for wear and out performed them "off road". A new tyre on the market for the big GS Bikes is one called the E-10 Adventure, these are now being fitted to the BMW "Off Road" School bikes along with some of the E-09 tyres.
Another tyre worth looking at for serious mileage is the Mitas E-07, more road biased but a very good tyre in most conditions and a nice wide fitment in both 17 and 18 inch wheels
Anyway, I could waffle on all day about tyres, get in touch anytime if you require any further information.
All the very best
Gwyn
