I won't be buying for the same reason that I won't buy a GS 1200.
The bike just don't fit my needs\wants. And I think that it costs too much.
If Yamaha want to take a big chunk out of the GS market share, they should have priced it cheaper than the GS.

All good points that I agree with, this bike was hyped as a RTW beduin inspired monster that should blow away BMUU and compete with the KTM as a serious all terrain bike. What seems to have been produced is a road leviathan (a quarter ton, really!)

Kept the off road abilitys of the 660, slotted in a powerful sub litre parallel twin and kept the bike simple... Then i think yamaha would of struggled to meet demand..
As it is its just another road bike with long travel suspension and off road clothes.

I think this is going to sum up this bike for an awful lot of people. not a bad bike at all, but after all the Yamaha inspired hype. Falls short of expectation, and too pricey, and Yamaha only have themselves to blame.
I'd like to see the initial reports from people who take this serious off roading, I'd like to be proven wrong but fear that I wont.
