Jut completed mine last night, (35W) dip and bright, I did the exact same with the brights connector, was worried about fluffing it and destroying the bracket but all worked fine in the end, Also did the relay for dip always on and it works well.
Used Velcro to mount mine but the cables were to short to allow mounting under the tank so I mounted them to the frame/oil tank, was concerned with the possible heat exposure but the industrial Velcro seems to act as a good heat shield, rode in 34deg Celsius weather all day today and there was no more noticeable heat on the ballasts, Time will tell if it lasts but so far it looks OK.
