I think as far as the law goes your tyre's speed rating need to exceed the maximum speed attainable by your vehicle. Not 100% sure, but I can tell you this, the Escapes are quite possibly the worst tyre I've ever had on a bike. Not that reassuring in the dry and in the wet slip slidy all over the place.
