As far as I can read from the other members, despite the very captivating looks the Yamaha original panniers have quite a few problems, the main one being faulty or cheap locks and keys, but also last Sunday at the Ace there was a guy with the original top box which the lock that held in place on the frame kept coming open. It's begger belief imagining that you might have something valuble in there like a laptop onlyfor this to come off at 70mph.

Touratec, Hepko & Becker and Metal Mule all do a much more sturdy version even thought compared to the Yamaha ones look spartan, but then who cares when you are travelling in Africa with all your essential kit strapped all over them?
