Thanks JMo, very useful. My thoughts on the bar end weights are that I have the Touratech hand guards and they come with their own little replacement weights..replacing the big hideous Yamaha jobs. Need to have a wee think about what to do. I like the look of the Easton bars purely because they are black with a flash of red and white!!

Hee hee - and we all know style and colour coordination is the main thing!

I had a look at those Easton bars -they are even fatter I believe - and as such they need their own clamps/risers it seems? Of course you might be able to use those on the existing Tenere top triple clamp, but you might find they are lower than with the stock risers?

I had a little mishap yesterday. My clutch lever had already snapped and it was one of those little jobs I never get around too. So spurred on by this thread I took it off and wondered what size to cut it down to. Then I thought I love my levers on my TTR so just copy them. So cut and sanded the lever put it back on bike and said **************** and blast.

Yes I now have a clutch lever that is good for 1 1/2 fingers. My break lever is great but now I need to get a new clutch lever and start again or get used to 1 finger clutch control.:021:

Having spent far too much time on ADV rider while I've been here, I thought it might be an idea to start a thread to show our favorite bits of bike candy and/or utter waste of money...

OK, so I really just wanted an excuse to show off my latest modification (now my big trip is essentially over, I thought I'd treat the Tenere to some trinketry) - but it is also tenuously helpful for anyone looking to fit replacement levers on the Tenere:

These are the C5 Sport (streetbike) levers, rather than the off-road specific ones... the brake lever is the FZ1/FZ6 04-08 version, and directly fits the Tenere master cylinder. ASV pn. BRC541 (-S if you want the shorty version like this)

The clutch lever is the same as the Suzuki GSXR 600/750 from 97-05 (also the V-Strom DL650 04-07 or the SV650 99-06) and fits the stock Tenere perch - yea! ASV pn. CRC530 (-S if you want the shorty version like this)

They are meant to be unbreakable (this version has a 5-year guarantee) and certainly bend in a crash, although not as far round as their off-road specific F3 levers...

http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/r...x/DSC00360.jpg

They also come in a right fancy box... mmmmmmmm!

Like I say, a totally expensive and unnecessary (perhaps?) addition, but make the bike feel like a million dollars!

Hi JMo
I recently bought one of these to fit to my XTR. I ordered a BRC541S to fit an 06-08 FZ1 but the mounting is different. It is stamped underneath with the number BLR41.
Can you tell me if there is a number stamped on the underside of the aluminium piece the mounts to the brake master cylinder on yours and if so what is that number?
Many thanks
Andy

Hi Andy - I don't have these levers anymore - I sold them to someone on here (might have been GLUGo, it was a while ago now)...

However, from what you are saying (and what is stamped on the lever in your photo), I'd say you've got the wrong one - as I was pretty certain the part numbers I've quoted in my original post were what was stamped on the levers too?

Maybe someone put the wrong lever in the box - what is the number on the box they came in?

Also, I'm presuming the XTR has the same master cylinder as the Tenere (XTZ)?, as the part numbers I quoted were specifically for the Ten'...

Sorry I can't be of more help...

For the record, it seems they don't fit the XTX, the brake cylinder seems to be the opposite way around.. glad i didnt order them, nasty price $450 for the pair here in Aus!

Hi JMo
thanks very much for your reply. The number on the box is a BRC541S however the piece that attaches the lever to the master cylinder clamp is way different to the one you had in your photos to the one i was supplied. I checked with my local dealer and he thought they were the same on the R & Z.
Anyway what I need to do is find out the number stamped on the piece between the lever and the clamp. I know its not a BLR41:icon_frown:

Thanks for your help anway:001:

Weren't me. I did ask, but they's already gone. The Pivotpegz are very nice though......

The ASV's are a very nice piece of bike porn though, and clever too,
they have moved altered the geometry of the pivot/cable achor so that it doesn't take any extra force to operate the levers (being short), just need to make sure you adjust your clutch after fitting them....... :puke:or it doesn't engage!
