I noticed a black Tenere on the Touratech stand at the MCN London Motorcycle Show a couple of weeks ago with a higher/flatter seat. Pics not the best to show the seat. Might be worth contacting them for further details.

Hello,

I think my next MOD will be seat replacement. But I want something professional. !!

I have checked the TOURATECH catalog in Spanish, but no info by now...but probably very soon.

Thanks.

i am off to western Sahara desert this year with my bike, so this was my idea to change the seat because i was fed up with the stock seat being to low and hurting my thighs, what i mean is because i stand up most of the time when on the sand when it comes for me to sit to make the turns, it was to much of a drop for my bum, plus there was a large lump that was getting in my way half way up, the seat is a lot harder and higher and made of leather now and much better for me, "every one has a different bum size so it will be hard for any company to get this seat mod right even touratech with gel seat's, best thing is to take it off a take it to someone that can modify it for you.

PS don't get them to put the cover on until you have done about 300 miles on it, because you will want to change the shape or size, trust "me i did" 5 times to get it right. all my best Sean..

Mod the original

Hi!

....must tell:
I bought a new original seat from Yamaha. Thats 150 Euro (in Sweden). Then I lifted off the (rear part of the) cover and cut / grinded to get a straight line. Then stapled the cover bacdk again. Now I have one seat to ride with my wife, and one to go one my own with. It was really easy, took only an hour in total and no cost:

Looks great!!!

Was the stapling easy? In other words, did the canvas/plastic without wrinkles easy?

BTW the whole bike looks though. Don't you want/need handguards?

Well, I have an air stapler. But no, no problem, I heated the cover slightly.....
OK, today we had 13 dgrC minus..... maybe it would have been soft with handguards to "hide" behind.... //MC

XT660Z Uncomfortable Seat

If I were to have any real issue with my Tenere it would be the seat as I find it short in length (I am 6 ft tall) and very soft. After about 30 to 45 mins I need to start standing up to get the blood moving again. I have moved the bars forward as much as possible and this improved the position slightly but I feel that a seat change is the only way. Has anyone used a company called 'intobikes.co.uk' as they push a seat by 'Bagster' which allows you to design the seat. Looks a good idea but I would like to find someone who has used the service. P.S. I have read the other submissions attached to this thread.
Regards
jmac
