Nice work mate you are the only other person that I know of who has done this conversion, I am sure you will be happy with the results once you have a good fuel map with that set up. :eusa_clap:

Now you tell me, haha.

Can I now be forgiven for asking how to connect the PCV a few months ago.

I know its an old tread but, how did you register the keys to the new ECU?
I have the 00 ecu and a friend have the 01 version and his bike does not make big explosions when close the thortle like mine.
I will be interested in make a ECU swap in case that I can change it and then register my own keys, and don't have to buy new keys or switch.

I see you never got an answer to a valid question?

Hi Kev
all very nice but does that mean that you have given up on a mod that works for the 07 XTs? Mine is still riding like a bronco when its cold and damp. Was ok in the 'summer'.
Does anybody know what Aprillia and MZ use in their bikes. Same engines with the same output but as smooth as silk!?

Rob

Did you manage to sort it out in the end? and if so what exactly did you do?

I think I can partially answer your question "I see you never got an answer to a valid question?".
MZs had 26mm Teikei carburettors on their 660 lumps and I have fitted an Aprilia, (who use a 40mm FI throttle body), Pegaso Factory engine in to my Tenere and the engine internals are exactly the same including the gearing cluster. The only difference were the asthetics of some minor exterior casings (embedded logos) and their final drive gearing is 15 T over 44T.

I attached my original 2009 fuel injection throttle body which is married to the 8591A 00 ECU . My bike had a Kevs fuel mod before and after along with a DNA filter / open snorkle and GPR pipes.

The bike now rides exactly the same as it did before it blew out its 3rd gear with zero changes to performance. There is still a noticeable 'switch / surging' between the open and closed FA loops, but only sometimes and also occasionally on gear change downs . I'm also using Kevs O2 eliminator, both before and after.

In conclusion. .my guess is the early Yamaha ECU mapping has the quality of an 80s Amstrad as the MZ / Aprilia engines are exactly the same as the 'Yamaha' just that they use different fueling systems but are known to ride better..
