all very nice but does that mean that you have given up on a mod that works for the 07 XTs? Mine is still riding like a bronco when its cold and damp. Was ok in the 'summer'.
Does anybody know what Aprillia and MZ use in their bikes. Same engines with the same output but as smooth as silk!?

Rob

No not given up, I am getting my bike ready for the PC5. I will work on the 07 mod when I go on a months holiday early next year.

muppdog 27-11-08 18:42

Good to hear that, thanks. And for going on a month holiday? How do you guys do that?

We all get 4 weeks leave a year in Oz & I tend to take mine all at once to have a good break.:bbeer:

Wow, Kev! I always tend to get worried when one actually needs a degree in electronics to tamper with a bike. It's not like my old Guzzis, where precision sledgehammering usually sorts it all out. I'm glad we have Kev here to guide us electronics novices into the jungle of cables, ECUs and remapping schedules... ;-)

Kev 28-11-08 01:06

This is not a hard mod to do at all & sure anyone could do it.

The programming of the immobiliser & keys are straight forward as well.

Kev,

Blimey mate. My worst nightmare. Small wiring jobs are OK, but a task like that would send me packing. I hope the outcome is what you expect once you have dyno'd it.

Keep us posted, and keep up the task in hand

Cheers

WB

Without the help Of WB I would not have been able to do this mod. WB organized my ECU from Holland to UK, then posted it off to me in Australia. A great mate to have & getting a brand new ECU for 66 Pounds was a bargain price. Wiring loom came off Ebay UK 30 Pounds.
:signthankspin:

As for the running, my bike has never run so smoothly with all my mods, having total control over the fueling is great, I am in love with my XT again. I loaded one of Freez's fuel maps & have played a little in a few rev ranges to suit my bike. I am off to the dyno very soon for a custom fuel map the only way to set the fuelling. :111:

After playing this weekend & using Freez's 06DNA fuel map my 07 XTX, it has never run so smoothly through out the whole rev range, I am real happy now. Still going to do a custom fuel map soon.

Forgot to add I recently swapped my 09 XTX ECU & wiring loom for a 05 complete wiring loom & 06 ECU.

Thanks for the advice on this thread (and PMs Kev)
I don't think I'd have braved this one without abit of encouragement.
Got an 05 wiring loom from ebay for 30.
Got a new ECU from Yam dealer for 132.
Had already purchased PCV,

I know you lot like photos, so here you are...

I hope there's no bad karma using donor parts. I did feel abit sorry for the 05 XTX the wiring loom once belonged to. It was abit like a major nervous system transplant.
I thought it would take a couple of hours to do the job. Reality was more like 4 hours. rewiring the alarm slowed me down abit.
Started first time. and like kev said, registering the keys to the ECU took all of 20 secs.
Verdict - Very smooth running at part throttle. lurching seems to have totally gone!
Slightly jerky when opening the throttle from fully closed, hoping this will smooth out with a custom map. Still playing with the Co setting which was set to zero on the new ECU. this might help.
I might postback after a weeks riding.

cheers for the headsup Kev. ;)
