DATE FITTED: 19/7/09 DATE REPLACED: 10/11/09 TOTAL DURATION (in months hopefully): 4 Months FRONT / REAR / BOTH / PRICE PAID (with or w/out fitting charge): Both BOUGHT FROM: SR Yamaha, Reading TYPICAL RIDING (TOWN/MOTORWAY/COMMUTING/OFF ROAD): Fast A / B-road, urban MILEAGE WHEN TYRE FITTED: 16900 miles FINAL MILEAGE AFTER TYRES ARE WORN: 26500miles TOTAL MILEAGE OBTAINED: 9600miles FINAL COMMENTS ON TYRES PERFORMANCE: Initial impression: Exclusively a road tyre. Almost no road buzz, probably due to tread pattern. Behaves well in wet conditions. Scrubbed in: Took a while to get the pressures (exactly) right. Rubber compound is a little harder, less sticky than the trailmax, but hopefully more hard wearing, still good once warmed up. Intermediate impressions: Handles well, I can throw it into corners and expect to come out the other end. Final Impressions: Squarer than a square thing on St Spongebob's day by the time I hit 9000miles, with attendant handling problems in corners and on overbanding. No punctures or other issues, just completely worn out. |

DATE FITTED: From new May 2009 DATE REPLACED: November 2009 TOTAL DURATION (in months hopefully): 6 months FRONT / REAR / BOTH / PRICE PAID (with or w/out fitting charge): N/A OEM fitting BOUGHT FROM: N/A OEM fitting TYPICAL RIDING (TOWN/MOTORWAY/COMMUTING/OFF ROAD): Touring MILEAGE WHEN TYRE FITTED: 0 FINAL MILEAGE AFTER TYRES ARE WORN: 4700 (3mm left on both tyres) TOTAL MILEAGE OBTAINED: 4700 FINAL COMMENTS ON TYRES PERFORMANCE: Most of the miles were done by the bikes first owner and not me. That means I have not experienced them at their best. Since owning the bike I have ridden mainly in the rain but on several occasions I have ridden in the dry. The rear has squared off badly so my experience with them is not representative. I can only say they offer little comfort in rain where as other tyres give more confidence. In the dry they were fine. As it was ruining my riding experience at 3mm left on both both front and rear I am getting them replaced with a more road biased tyre. |

DATE FITTED: Jul 2009 DATE REPLACED: Nov 2009 TOTAL DURATION (in months hopefully): 5 FRONT / REAR / BOTH / PRICE PAID (with or w/out fitting charge): Both 110 euro BOUGHT FROM: Reifenversand.com TYPICAL RIDING (TOWN/MOTORWAY/COMMUTING/OFF ROAD): Commuting MILEAGE WHEN TYRE FITTED: 24000 km FINAL MILEAGE AFTER TYRES ARE WORN: 32.000 km TOTAL MILEAGE OBTAINED: 8.000 km, front tire not worn yet, probably last the double amount FINAL COMMENTS ON TYRES PERFORMANCE: Good grip on dry road for semi nobbies. At large lean angles, outside *** bends and you will get the feeling of sliding. Dangerous on wet road with large lean angles . Grip breaks and immediately you are down [/quote] |
TYRE MAKE / MODEL: Continental TKC80
DATE FITTED: july 2009 DATE REPLACED: november 2009 TOTAL DURATION (in months hopefully): 4 months FRONT / REAR / BOTH / PRICE PAID (with or w/out fitting charge): €200,- w. fitting BOUGHT FROM: www.mamola.nl TYPICAL RIDING (TOWN/MOTORWAY/COMMUTING/OFF ROAD): commuting on motorway and B-road, <5% off-road MILEAGE WHEN TYRE FITTED:18.000 km FINAL MILEAGE AFTER TYRES ARE WORN: rear 24.000 km, front (predicted) 30.000km TOTAL MILEAGE OBTAINED: rear 6000km, front (predicted) 12.000km FINAL COMMENTS ON TYRES PERFORMANCE: makes the bike tip over when cornering, (too?) light steering, good cornering grip, good grip on dry tarmac, sufficient grip on wet tarmac, front wheel starts to wander at >130kph but not frightening, good traction on dry firm or loose sandy roads and gravel roads, not much in mud, |
TYRE MAKE / MODEL: Bridestone BT45
DATE FITTED: May 09 DATE REPLACED: September 09 TOTAL DURATION (in months hopefully): FRONT / REAR / BOTH / PRICE PAID (with or w/out fitting charge): BOUGHT FROM: The Bike Shhop Faversham TYPICAL RIDING (TOWN/MOTORWAY/COMMUTING/OFF ROAD): Almost 100%Motorway MILEAGE WHEN TYRE FITTED: 11565 FINAL MILEAGE AFTER TYRES ARE WORN: approx 19500 (rear) TOTAL MILEAGE OBTAINED: approx 8000 (rear) FINAL COMMENTS ON TYRES PERFORMANCE: Skinny profile makes the tyres agile but a bit wimpy looking (especially on the rear). Grip is excellent due to dual compontd in both dry and wet however and whitelining is fairly minimal. Hard compound in the centre seems to offer average life however with the sides offering increaced grip (and presumably less life but don't get to test that much on the motorway). Front BT45 has now done 14k miles and still has 2-3mm tread left but as starting to show signs of scalloping/feathering so may be replaced soon. For straight road riding I would highly recommend these. Excellent handling, stability and confidence both wet and dry due to silicon and dual compound design. |
