The fitting to the bike is as good as any and is actually very firm (as are the panniers), I cannot comment on the hinges, they seem as good as the ones on my previous top boxes and are helped by straps to stop excessive opening. I have not used them on a trip yet (except for commuting) but I like them. I am considering fitting some tie on loops all over them and they should drill/screw through without any problem. If you need any closer photos, let me know.

Hello Ray

Did you manage to source any tie down loops as Ive been looking for ages but with no luck.

We are like children in a toy shop. I am as bad I confess but I would need a bankers bonus to complete any one of my wish lists.

Maybe we should show our wives/partners/family this thread in time for Christmas (Royal Mail permitting).

I did and i got some frame protectors :D

A bit surprised, no-ones been in this section for a fair while!
When I bought my 4 yr old Z it had an LED light & a gen' topbox. I organised in the deal, a set of used gen' alloy panniers from the dealer principal but had to pay extra for the brackets (was a bit dirty on that).
Next was a gen' centre stand.
Reman'd the LED bracket after gaffer taping it up to get home one time.
Repositioned the numberplate & rotated the light upwards.
Had a Power commander fitted, (older version) had been sitting in the shop for a couple of years, (it turned up too late to fit on the dealer principals' bike, before he went on a "round Australia trip".) Makes a big difference
Snorkel removed & air cleaner serviced :icon_frown: should have done that sooner :018:

Gen' alloy bash plate, (old stock again but Xmas present from eldest son who works for the shop albeit across the road selling KTM)
Seat reshape, had that done in the first few months. I'm 6'3'' so the low seat needed a lift.

Single exhaust, 2012 YZ450 muffler, home made baffle (cut some 6mm perforated sheet into a disc & fitted inside the end) Custom cut & bent pipe from local exhaust specialist.

Mods to do yet- throttle control mod, engine guards & a second set of wheels to keep a set of 80/20 tyres, Taller screen
Enjoying the Z, love the look of it too.

My mods list is very short when compared with other members' efforts!

Kev O2 mod
Adventure spec bashplate assembly
Touratech carrier
Yamaha 'lever protectors'
Unifilter (supposed to have been fitted at the dealer but wasn't)
Ohlins shock (best mod ever for this bike imo)
Spaced-up cush drive
KTM chain guide (second-best mod ever for this bike imo)
Yamaha panniers and racks (redundant unless I can find another r/h pannier)
Centrestand

I'd like to fit:

Heated grips
Better (ie flatter) seat
Barkbuster Storm hand guards
