If you look at the manual page 350 (7-7), It's says 'Disconnect the wire harness coupler from the fuel pump'. Do we have to follow this procedure to make sure that the CO settings or modifications work for good?

If your just changing the CO setting then no,just do it from the display unit and the settings will stay to what you set them at.

No i am afraid you can't cause if you press the select and start buttons with the engine running you can only change from mph to kmh or adjust the clock.

Hi

Anyone aware of what error code number 46 is?
it came up on the display after my bike failed to start one cold morning, i charged the battery for a while and it started and eventually cleared itself but its been logged in the diag, just havent been able to find out what it means

cheers
Nick

CaptMoto 02-03-08 22:41

Oh that!! Its just the bike telling you: "Who the **** do you think you are, Valentino Rossi??"

http://www.thunderbike.co.nz/newslet...6winter/46.jpg

Seriously I don't think that error code is listed, hence I've never heard of, let's see what Kev reckons....

Saltyseven 08-03-08 16:03

cheers anyway capt,
have booked in for a service next month, so if they can shed any light on Number 46 ill let yah know.
Think its just my bike paying me back for the amount of times ive stacked the poor ****** tho!!!

Code 46 is the voltage supply monitored in the engine ECU, if your battery was flat it will bring up this code up, as the voltage in the engine ECU come up to the correct value the code will clear.

Re: 700cc conversion
Error 19 is the black/blue wire that goes to the crankshaft speed sensor, it is not getting a signal when the starter is pushed. Trace & check this wire from the ECU to the speed sensor plug.

Not sure why you are checking the side stand switch in Diag 20.

Cheers
Kev

ER 1 & ER2 are no signals to the ECU. Check your connections at the dash & main ECU.

changed codes for 2007?

Hi,
i have checked diag mode on my bike and i cant find diag mode 02 (atmospheric pressure). From -d01- on the display it continues to -d03-. Is there any changes for 2007? Also i found some codes (d30, d36, d48, d50...)which are not listed in the explanation posted on this forum?!
Thanks for help.

Air pressure sensor is still read from d03 in the diag screen, d30 is for coil out put test, d36 is for injector out put test, d48 AIS put put test, d50 is fuel injection relay out put test.

A out put test is when the ECU sends a voltage to a component to activate it when carrying out tests.

There is no way of adjusting the speedo drive speed through the dash. I would recommend you fit a speedo healer you can find out more about this in the Modification Index.

Why do I keep getting engine
oil in my airbox

Kev 13-04-11 23:22

And hello to you as well.

Why have you attached a quote for CODE 46 & asked a question for oil in your air box, do you want to ask a question about code 46?

What year & what model XT660 do you have?

hello

just recently got an error 1, the starter has made awful sound... disconected all the conectors cleaned them! but now when i turn the key, the screen is still black, and nothing happens just the parking light and stop light are working, any ideas how to fix it or maybe the ecu is dead?

telesi 04-02-12 20:34

i saw the question about the oil, have the same problem ( if it is a problem ), its nut much oil but still!

pommie 06-02-12 14:11

hi have a on going issue with my xtx 2004,a while back i took it to a SM track in south australia and come off a few times at slow speeds in soft sand and error code 08 flashed up a few times and since then bike has been having problems with 3rd gear.when riding slow-ish its ok but as soon as you accelerate the engine jerks a few times while powering up the revs change into 4th and 5th its ok
did a fault test on display and found error code
d61:30
d62:1
i did notice in sensors test 09 : Battery voltage - must be above 12.0 mine is reading 0?

Following ERROR codes DO NOT allow engine to run :
11-12-19-30-41-50 and Er-1 to Er-4
Error code 11 allow engine to continue running only if fault appears after engine start.

Error Number 30 : The bike went down - DIAG mode 08
im now picking at straws and was woundering if this would be related to my issue..it does feel electrical
have been to a coullpe of bike shops and not much help

Get error 4 when trying to access Diagnostic, same as quoted bike starts and runs normal. Any suggestion to clear error and access Diagnostic.

Hi There I've just finished restoring an XT660X which was a CatD write off, engine was running and pretty sure engine light was off, since reassemble the light is staying, engine runs fine, it has K&N stage 3 filters and snorkel removed (std Pipes).
Carried out diag mode and these results are showing.
D3=1
D5=10
D6=11
D8=0.6
D61=30
D62=2

I have tried to understand what all these mean but filed miserably, would appreciate any ideas guys?
Many Thanks
Steve

Greeting
I have a big problem to which I hope to get an answer :)
I ride Yamaha XT660R (2009). After standing for a couple of months turned on me and on the display it showed the letter blinking non-stop while engine is running. Do not show me a kilometer watch, just letters E blinking. I drove it to an authorized service center Yamaha in Croatia but they have not found a malfunction. Guys can you help me?

I've the same problem in my XT660R '06. Any suggestion what to do?
There's no way to get to Diag mode.
In my opinion it's caused by the immo cheater which is mounted in my bike ;/
Can anyone confirm that?

code 46

does the engine light also stay on after starting when the bike shows this code?

Aircobra 23-11-15 08:19

Hey there!
I can't access diag screen at all. Pressing the select and start buttons I can only change from mph to kmh or adjust the clock.
I've tried pretty much everything. With Engine Run switch OFF & ON etc.
What's the problem?
Bike is brand new 2013 Tenere.
Thanks!

DirkZ 23-11-15 20:36

As we all found out unfortunately the Tenere can not be diagnosed or adjusted onboard through the dashboard. Only the XT660R can.
You need a Yamaha F1 Diagnostic tool for the Tenere.

Aircobra 25-11-15 17:12

Very sad.. Thanks!

66TMT 11-05-16 17:36

Hello, I have an MT03 that I would like to adjust co/fuel settings on. It is not possible to do this through the dash, although I have purchased an F1 Diag tool. Does anyone have experience using the diag meter and would you please walk me through this. Would be greatly appreciated. I bought the Bike second hand, it has a PCV on it but compared to my previous (crashed) MT03 it runs like a shoe full of rocks. Thanks in advance :)

DirkZ 11-05-16 21:51

I could walk you through the procedure with my 660Z but donno if this is the correct thread (Diagnostic Codes). With permission from the Moderators?

Firstly, it is highly unlikely that the CO adjustment will be the cause of your rough running as it only adjusts the fuelling at very small throttle openings (up to 2%). Also, the stock CO setting, ECU, maps and fuelling on the MT-03 and XT660Z (which are fundamentally the same) are generally pretty good. Very few people find the need to adjust the CO, unlike on the XT660R/X models which are more prone to surging and cutting out.

I would suggest that whatever map is loaded in the PCV is more likely the issue. Before you do any fiddling, I would recommend loading a "zero" map (0 in all the trim cells) into the PCV so effectively you're taking the PCV out of the equation and running the stock fuelling. See if it runs better like this first.

Below is a brief guide to using the FI tool that may be of help to get you started, but as I've mentioned, try running the stock fuelling first.
  1. Make sure ignition is in the OFF position.
  2. Remove the cap and connect the diagnostic tool to the pin connector under the seat.
  3. Whilst holding down the MODE button, turn the ignition ON. “DIAG” will appear in the screen and the LED will turn green.
  4. Use the UP button to select either “CO” mode or “DIAG” mode (you can toggle between the two).
  5. Press MODE again to select which you want.

If you select “CO”, you can simply adjust the CO up or down (but make sure you note down the original setting first so you can always return back to it).

If you select “DIAG”, you can scroll up and down the various diagnostic functions and tests by their code. The list is long and you really need the service manual for the specifics of each diagnostic operation, but here’s a list of what the codes are:

D01 – Throttle Angle
D03 – Intake Air Pressure
D05 – Intake Air Temperature
D06 – Coolant Temperature
D07 – Speed Sensor Pulse
D08 – Lean Angle Cut-Off Switch
D09 – Fuel System Voltage (battery voltage)
D20 – Sidestand Switch
D21 – Neutral Switch
D30 – Ignition Coil
D36 – Fuel Injector
D48 – Air Induction System
D50 – Fuel Injection Relay
D51 – Radiator Fan Relay
D52 – Headlight Relay
D60 – E2PROM Fault Code Display
D61 – Multifunction History Code Display
D62 – Multifunction History Code Erase
D63 – Multifunction Code Reinstate (for fault code 24 only)
D70 – Control Number
