Air filters?
Hi All,
Just having a look round my bike and pulled the air filters out. The side one is a DNA but the inner one is OEM. Is this a common set up, or do people normally change both? Is it worth replacing with a DNA one given it has the DNA side one? https://s18.postimg.org/9zp3rdzzd/20...7_11.19.10.jpg |
The DNA Stage 2 which is fitted to the side of the box is the one that gives you more performance and it is also a filter for life if you buy the DNA regenerating kit it has a bottle with the cleaner and a spray that re-oil the filaments / waves.
The OEM its only good for 8'000 miles MAX and should be changed now we also recommend you get the DNA equivalent of the OEM because it is designed and proven to have more performance and once again with the kit you can have it for life, just clean it and re oil every season, depending on the amount of riding you do through the year. Here is the kit you need https://www.tpl-parts.co.uk/product/...MaAlTTEALw_wcB Here is the DNA filter you should get to replace the OEM: https://www.e-dnafilters.co.uk/produ...gaArR7EALw_wcB And here is a video on how to clean them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmDCrdMvAsk |
Thanks Captain! I was wondering if the one on teh side negated changing the one inside if it flowed enough. As it doesn't I shall order one up. I prefer cleanable filters anyway. :)

Any idea why it would have some tape along the top? Stop water dripping off the side panel or suchlike?

Just put the bike back together and then spied these in my toolbox where i'd put everything else I'd undone! Dmaned if I know where they're from though? Anyone? Bueller?

The two bits are from the battery cover I think. I Just put a new battery on my bike today and the cover that go’s over the battery has two bolts that bolt it down the two bits you have should go in the hole of the cover then the bolts acts like a washer.99.% sure that’s what they are. As look the same as what I just used today. Ps I have a DNA outer filter and a K&N Iner filter

My DNA air filter arrived last week and I finally fitted it last night. I wasn't expecting any performance gains as I thought they'd have come from doing the outer one and the snorkel removed and any gains from this would be nominal. But its really made a difference to pick up and throttle roll ons. Its much smoother at lower revs. Result.

Did you clean the outer one and re oil it?..
I guess if you consider that the air filter(s) are like the bikes lungs and an old, dirty filter is like an asthmatic smokers lungs.... |

Rode the bike again today and this has really smoothed the bottom end out and it pulls better for less throttle opening, if you see what i mean. At certain shuts offs it still pops like a *******, despite blocking of the AIS, but I gather i'll have to live with that! |
Some things you gotta live with init!..Have you done Kev's throttle mod?
