She's an 08 bike first registered in 2009, I've been the only owner and the mileage is really low, around 4,900 mark. Unfortunately got her just before I went to University and couldn't take her with me. She got me to Warwickshire for an interview and plenty of times round the M25 to Guildford in pouring rain or sunshine. Then she was my only form of transport to work for 4 months that included some days of scraping ice of the seat and never had one problem starting. I got my xt a year after my fireblade because I couldn't stand the potholes and traffic jams on my honda. they are like cheese and chalk, one is like a maclaren, the other like a defender. you need to decide what you want it for. I like it for: go anywhere (including off road), comfort (up to motorway speeds, once past 80, wind becomes an issue), reliable, low running costs, agility and excellent in urban driving. Riding at its natural past you can tour on it lomg distance without discomfort I don't like: little to no weather protection and x wind stability at high speeds(it is almost a naked bike), engine buzz through the handle bar can give you numb fingers. these are just the highlights. I am happy with the fuel delivery on my 2009 but had to do the cush mod to get rid of snatchy drive on/off throttle for me the xt works great together with my fireblade. |
My Ten is in for repairs after a small accident and I'm riding a Honda CBF1000 - the most boring bike I've ever ridden in my life. XT's all the way!

Hi mate I bought an xt660x about a month ago done 800 miles on it so far . I also have other bikes. Fz1n ,gsxr750. XT660 is fun. BUT if you like to do long run outs I would really think about it first. I love my xt 660x but if it was to be my only bike. I would not bother with it. It's not a bike to jump on and go down the motorway on it. I took it on the motorway last week would not want to be on it long. So when I want to jump on a bike and ride 100 miles down the motorway to the coast I will have to take one of my other bikes as the xt is not up to the job by a long shot. But if you want back road fun the xt is spot on and loads of fun. Some people will say the bike is fine on the motorway. But I guess that depends on what you are used to. If you like power to be there if you need it. This is not really it. It's just my opinion. But like I said lots of fun. But if you like to go out on good long rides this is not it. I would jump on any of my bikes and drive down to London 200 miles easy ride and back so 400 round trip .But would not even bother on the XT It would just be to much like hard work. I would say ride one first and just pop on the motorway for a bit. Hope this helps.
