Thanks for the offer Steve, but I really don't mind bringing my own tent etc. It's just that, with the bunkhouse being there, I thought I'd take the easy option for one night! ;)

Absolutely. We've got ten down - more than enough for a good time. I reckon if you need numbers pretty soon, then just book a dozen pitches and we roll with what we've got...

steveD 13-01-15 01:02

Cheers for the vote of confidence Pete. I'll call and see if this Pinkertons group has all of the bunks but then.....................................you may not want to share!!!!!!!!!!!!:017:

(Have you had a look at 'Pinkertons'!:gay:)

Geoffdl99bt 13-01-15 14:30

Hi steve
did you get my PM with email address?
regards
geoff

BreedonFox 13-01-15 14:41

Hi I'm new to this forum and haven't fully signed up yet but intend to. I would love to have a few days camping in Wales but I need to be back in the East Midlands by Saturday lunchtime on this particular weekend. Are some people intending to arrive on the Thursday if so I could do Thu / Fri night.

Pleiades 13-01-15 17:50

:welcome: to the forum mate.

There will indeed be folk arriving on the Thursday, so you'd be more than welcome to come along and camp till Saturday morning, whatever suits you.

Be good to meet some new faces.

:grouphug5:

steveD 13-01-15 22:32

Howdy again. Geoff, I didn't get your pm, can you resend? Ta

Keith, Tan Hill is very bleak, no showers unless you want to B&B, if weather is crap then there is a limit to what can be done. If you fancy then we could have a mini-meet up there sometime.

BreedonFox, if you can make it then I will be there, I'm sure I can find some rather 'interesting' roads / tracks to have a go at. Just bring your drinking glove!

Pleiades, have you had a look at the 'Pinkertons' site yet?:o

As I'm going to the Dragon Rally I might go a day early to have a recce or stay a day later depending on weather. :024:

I will contact Sam at the site and reserve 15 small tent spaces.

Cheers all. Steve

Yep. Not sure I'd want to be the odd one out in the bunkhouse! :crowded:

:campfire: Tent it is.

maxwell123455 14-01-15 00:11

Come rain, gales, snow or that very funny yellow thing called sun I'll be there. Where there is and how many people are there I'm not sure but I'll be there.

steve - I dropped you a email with a few route ideas, hope you got the email? Daves on holidays with limited wifi but I'm sure he'll be here too come rain, whiskey or bacon baps!

scottnet 14-01-15 14:24

Great job at putting this together, sadly that is the weekend I am going down to Spain for the HISS event so I can not make it . I am sure you guys will have a brilliant time ..

Maybe eight hours in the saddle. Potentially a nice route though.

I'm already riding 350 miles to get there... what's another 300 more, really? Vroom, I say!

Why not get in touch with the Yamaha off road experience, I'm sure they'll give you some insights for trails and fun. There's at least 10 Tnr s there already!

It isn't the distance that's the problem, doesn't bother me - the idea istelf, of a ride from North to South Wales and back is great - "Long Way Down and Up Again". As I mentioned, it's a lovely twisty scenic route over the Cambrian Mountains.

It's more the time factor - eight hours. As the ride was billed as a visit to the Touratech shop (which is only open 10 till 5), I was just thinking that folk wouldn't get much time at all to browse the store and fill their trolleys with Touratat. Mind you, thinking about it, that's probably a good thing! ;)

:rofl[1]: hmmm yes there might be a few people who you see running out the shop after seeing the prices!!!!

Arn 14-01-15 22:27

I'm glad those who have signed up are keen to see this go ahead. I'm a 100% definite attendee and I'm planning to do Thursday to Sunday. I've booked the time off work and more crucially, even got permission from the missus!!!

Only had my XTR a couple of months so I'll be spending the run up converting it from totally standard machine to one with some poorly installed pseudo off road bits and bobs.

Also a big thank you to everyone who's making this meet happen. If there is anything I can do, let me know.

Your enthusiasm is good to see! :023:

Look forward to meeting you in May.

I'm travelling over to Wales on Friday, but I doubt our paths will cross until I get as far as the M6. Could rendezvous if you wanted company to ride the last bit along the North Wales coast to Conwy?

Sorry Max, I'll be in France that weekend. Need to get over to Wales mid March for recce.

maxwell123455 20-02-15 08:15

Sorry steve I've got every other weekend up to the xt meet booked with stuff. You can blame the girl friend for that one.

I will see what I can do or might even just go down that weekend anyway. I'll keep you informed.

did you get those gps maps ok I sent in email? my laptop with my garmin map quest on it decided it wanted to sleep forever so I've not been able to look at them.

keithy2 20-02-15 11:42

May meet

Hi did a recce of the campsite, its right in the centre of Llanfairfechan just pass the cross roads on the old road. Its quite small but should make for a cosy meet, has toilets etc and looks good for bike security there are also a couple of pubs within easy walking distance.
For those people travelling from the north the A55 is a very quick but boring dual carrageway from the M56. I would recommend the much more scenic A494 starting at queensferry down to the A5 and passing thro Betsy-coed with plenty of cafes for a quick brew. While at Betsy-coed i bought a smaller tent a Vango Halo 300 fits on the bike easily and not too heavey at 4 kg see you there!!
