Long term usage review question
Hello guys.
Last week got my leovince stolen from my tenere. Was about to get my stock exausts but found this thread and got curious about this exaust. I like the idea of a lower sound as you guys report and the assimetry of a single one, but since i know nothing about this exaust i would like to know, from the people that have it for a long time if they are still happy with the buy. My yamaha center warned me to don't try these but what better review than from who uses it? :D Thanks in advance. On a side note: Any of you considered ways of making harder to steal the exausts? I already got an alarm but i'm thinking of ways on fixing the exaust in a not so easy to remove set. |

I am more than happy with my Exan. It's been on the bike nearly two and a half years and still looks and sounds as good as new. The only thing that perhaps draws justified criticism is the hanger you get in the kit, it could be better thought out and it supports the can right at its end. This means there's quite a big distance between the Y-pipe mount and the silencer mount, leaving a large length of the system unsupported. There has been one instance where a titanium can spilt which I think probably happened because one of the rivets tore on the lower front end of the can due to it trying to pivot slightly due to the way the standard mounting is set up. However, the forum member in question had his can replaced by Exan, so everyone's happy. As far as I'm aware no one else has had the same issue. Incidentally, I did not use the mounting bracket supplied.

Thanks man. I think its just my luck. The screws should be enough, already searching for some.
And congrats for your idea on the tube storage. |
I have just changed from my Leo Vinces to the Exan. Firstly I must admit I really loved the Leo Vinces. Really well made and certainly more power than stock.
I still can't believe how quiet the Exan is compared to the LV. Not sure if its robbed a bit of power compared to the Leo Vinces, but maybe thats just because its so quiet. The good news is that the Leo Vince bracket (which I hope they didn't steal) is great. I just used it and it works perfectly. I don't think you can go wrong with either. In my book this is the best mod, apart (for me) from the stock saddle. More power and a big saving in weight in the wrong place. |
They took everything, just left one spring and a nut (maybe lost it in the dark).
I really loved Leo Vince but sometimes i thought to myself if they weren't to loud. Hard to talk with girlfriend ;). But i was used to having a sound that every car listens far away. |
They were loudish but not offensive and popped a bit. The exan don't pop. I forgot to pinch off the AIS but it works so well I won't bother. I have just made a copy of that LV bracket for my exan. 2mm stainless plate off eBay a bit of sawing drill 4 holes and you're away

Cool, going to buy the Exan. Do you guys think the catalyst is mandatory?

Bottom line is, you don't need one, so don't fit one. |
