Didn't your Barkbusters come with expansion bolts?

Or do you have some sort of Tenere OE bar specific fitting kit? If so you might need to get hold of a universal fitting kit for them. I'd do that rather than try and tap the Renthals.

no.

i guess your right, mine must be a Tenere fitment kit. When i ordered them i think i remember selecting "tenere".

Right....next job....find expansion bolts for Barkbusters!

Thanks every so much for your help.

I took my Barkbusters from the standard bars, fitted 613's re-routed the cables as per GULG's instructions and all's well. BB's are just fine.

You will need to check the throttle return on both full locks.

Stop wasting your time decorating and get out in the garage man!!

When you had standard bars did you have expansion bolts then?

i think i might try and get my 613's tapped as it will allow me to use the spacer/bar end weights (inbetween grips and barkbuster arm)

going in the garage 2mo....got my dad coming round to carry on the decorating! :)

I cant be the only one with 613's & barkbusters? what size tap do i need?

Hi, I tapped 613s recently for my 660Z, the standard bar's thread is M16 x 1.5. The bars are quite easy to tap as they are alloy, no drilling required - the internal diameter is correct as supplied to cut to the correct thread. Use plenty of grease and a tapered tap for the initial cut followed by a well greased plug or finisher tap of the same thread to ensure the thread is clean. Flea bay is a good place to source the taps if you don't have them to hand. Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Yes

No need. Weights come with the bark busters mount parts.

Being a Dad myself I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry!!

Thanks for that. how come you tapped yours? was it to fit the OEM barkbuster fitting kit like i want too?

The 613's do look like they have a TINY bit smaller internal diameter, but you said there was no need to drill so thats good. I know some one i can borrow Taps off so will give it a go.

Enduro374: are these the bar end weights your on about? i ask as you can buy extra ones that fit (i think) along the edge of the alloy bar.

SO....what yur saying is if i buy the expanding bolts from Barkbusters i can still use them?

I just used what came in the barkbusters box - simples and threw the old bars and ends out.

I'll try and get a pic up.

That's it, I had Barkbusters on the original bars for a year or so using the threaded inserts that were fitted originally.

A good, (as in not blunt or worn), tapered tap and a bit of pressure to start with were all I needed to tap the new thread in the Renthals, piece of p*$$ ;-)

I carried out the throttle cam mod while I had the throttle cables disconnected too, well worthwhile for slow speed control, ( http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=16757&page=3).

Cheers.

Thanks for that, will get my hand on some M16 taps then :)

Never seen that throttle mod. i've actually been thinking just lately how i dont like the throttle on the ten. The profile seems a little of (hence the mod) but i was thinking of going for a quick action that.

It just seems that when your off road and getting a move on, you have to wrench the throttle round for what seems like for ever :102:
