Lakes V - Confirmation - We have a site !

I bring news......

Today I have had confirmation from the camp site that the dates and the field are available to us, and have been booked.

Same site as last year, so you can choose Camping, or Pods. Unfortunately they have taken a business decision to turn the B&B over to a Holiday Let, so we cannot offer B&B accommodation. There is B&B available at the pub down the road, if anyone wants to look at that then please let me know and I'll forward them details.

However, we will have the marquee up again, and the field is sheltered so we are pretty well equipped to deal with crappy weather. Heating and refreshments will be available as last year around the clock for those who want it.

Thanks to Microsofts wonderful automatic updates trashing my HDU, the NavXT will have completely new WP's this year, and the current plan is to include a map for the event in the pack (OS maps will still be useful if you need them - once the areas have been defined) the map I've found also has loads of local information on it too, should you need it. Also the area will be increased so you'll get to see even more of the national park.

Nice work Darren. Can you share the location so I can find out about the pods?

Ta.

Normally, we don't advertise openly, but we have a planning meeting on October last year and agreed, due to the inherent security of the location within the site, letting people know is no longer a problem.

Don't be put off by the 'holiday' part of the website, we don't use that area - we have a nice secluded area where no-one else goes.

We still need to work on the aspects as Camping will be included, where people have organised Pods, there will be a separate cost mechanism.

Anyone who wants a Pod, please can you book this directly with the site.

Dick Dastardly used a Pod last year, and has commented on one of the other threads.

Thanks Darren. Looks a good spot.

Spoke to Alison at the farm today and took the liberty of booking myself a pod - can't face putting a tent up at midnight after 300 (probably wet) miles in the saddle, so went for the easy/lazy option: Park bike - helmet off - open beer - drink! :beer[1]:

Just note, if your thinking of a pod, that you'll need to send a deposit (40).

The Lakes sound like a lot of fun, would it be possible for an easy going Norwegian to join. I would have to look for boats going to England from Denmark or Holland, but why not :-)

You will certainly be welcome and probably even considered a hero for making the effort to cross the channel to join what is probably the best xt660.com meeting of the year, so if you really can do it, go for it!

Yes, you would be very very welcome.

There is a boat from Amsterdam to Newcastle - > http://www.dfdsseaways.co.uk/ferry-r...-to-amsterdam/

It's an overnight ferry, I've used it a few times, and you'll be about 90 minutes ride from the ferry to the site (or maybe 2-3 hours if you take the scenic roads)

I can recommend a nice route of you if you like.

I`ll come rolling of the ferry mentioned above at 0900 friday morning, thanks. Any other day I would appreciate the scenic route, but please bring me straight to the fun part :-)
