If someone is interested I can tell that this connection on front of tank is not direct to battery. There is no power on it when you run starter. I know that after I try to connect a Scottoiler to this, and all works OK I start engine and my Scottoiler was reseted.

Yes I have noticed that You can't jumpstart with that connection. After week's of hesitation I finally replaced my original battery with a JMT Lithium HJTZ10S-FP-I from off-the-road.de and installed a charge/jumpstart lead it took a good hour removing all the plastic around the tank and lifting the tank. You can access the battery box by just lifting and moving the tank slightly back. The guy who designed the battery placement on the abs version should have his head examined.

Yes that is my thread :-)

I wanted to connect some accories directly to the battery, and basically
  • Removed the two bolts by the rear of the tank
  • Remove the grey side plastic (8 bolts)
  • Remove the grey fairing parts (4 bolts)
  • Remove black plastic below the tank (6 bolts)
  • Remove the 2 big bolts ons the side below the tank that fixates the tank to the frame (and takes the side load of crashes)
  • Remove the CDI connection cables

Then i could move the tank enough backwords to remove the plastic arround the lock and access the battery terminals - but not enough to remove the battery

If just for charging i would also use the other points, but i have also fitted a socked for a charger below the seat.

Thanks majland, just used your description and it worked perfect. Dont think I would have done it on my own if I wouldnt seen this post :-)

Hi! I'm also searching for a sollution on how to connect a battery charger on the ABS model. A picture showing where to connect it would be much appreciated :-)

I would suggest to do as i did ;-)

Connect a charging socket directly to the battery and just leave the socket under the seat.

That way you won't have idiots blowing you fuses by filling the socket with some metal to short it out. And you can easily get to it and just by removing the seat.

Hej Majland i Danmark :-)
Thx for your reply. I was hoping that it would be possible to connect a charger to the battery without having to loosen the fuel tank. But might be I would have to... The main bolts holding the tank to the frame seems to be hard to loosen on my bike. Any tricks?

Longer tool - just fit a 1/2 meter of tube over your hex key :-)

And pull some wires to below the seat when you are at it ...

But yes it should be possible to connect a charger on the lower front side of the engine behind a plastic cover (trough a 30A fuse) - i just did it the other way to have an easily accessable socket for further use - Winter riding is Denmark is not so good for the bikes because of the salt the put on the road.

Thanks again majland, I followed your instructions on how to dismantle/loosen the fuel tank yesterday, and it worked perfect! Voltage of the battery was just 1,5 V - and everything was working perfect when I put the bike in the garage 1 month ago. So the question is; what has happened?? I will recharge the battery and hopefully everything works...

Any accessories like GPS ?
The charging circuit on some units can drain the battery - even without the GPS present.

But i have accidentally left it with parking light on along with heated grips and aux light- My battery survived but not recommend doing that on a regular basis ...
