That's a bit harsh, jimmy! I rode the the 2010 1200GS and GSA before I bought my 660. Liked both, especially the GS. However, the Tenere is easier to manage and maintain and better off-road (for me - there are men who can really ride those things) even with its awful shock, and I love big singles in spite of the trade-off in grunt.
But the big issue for me, having owned three BMWs, is the fact that two of them were ****e. If I spent all that money on a GS and it went wrong I would go off my brain. Big money should mean big quality, but it isn't necessarily so. I was too scared to risk my loot. Thus I can live with the tenere's inferior finish and its few inherent problems. At least we know what they are! |
Theres loads of BMW haters about. For all the brand loyalists if you stuck their badge of choice on it they'd rave about it. :gay:

I tried a Gs in comparison with a Varadero and the big Honda won hands down. Handling was soooo superior when pushed hard, the Honda shrugged off any mental input. The build quality of the Honda was easily on a par and the price was a huge factor. Like they say, over priced and over here. Oh, did I mention the fact that the GS is pig ugly ? lol. Sorry just my opinion. Anyone contemplating a GS really needs to forget the status thingy and try a Varadero as a machine. The Tenere ? Different kettle of fish, takes me where I want to go with smile attached. Streets ahead of the small GS .
