Barkbusters for tenere review

Visited Adventure Spec near Halifax yesterday and was well looked after by Chris one of the partners. mentioned this forum as the reason I come to know about him.

Bought Barkbusters for the Tenere, very solid bit of kit but just very massive! I was dismayed to find that on full lock they almost touch the panal behind the headlight:icon_eek:!!!!! This means that I now have to re-site my heated grip control which was mounted there (not a fault of the busters but they didnt need to be quite that big). Also, the busters have to be raised a little so the aluminium bar is above the levers instead of directly in front of them, otherwite they would foul the tank. They also foul my Givi Screen on full lock which may not be the case with the standard screen.

Certainly not perfect but well made and will do the job.

Is it the plastic guards or the aluminium backbone that is causing you grief?

They are well made but I find the extra width annoying when filtering. Also the extra vibes from running lighter weights is noticeable.

I like the BB's. No vibes (no more than usual enyway) and protective too. Mine do just touch the plastic under the screen and has left a slight mark, but not overly protective about it. I've also spaced my RHS guard out a bit to clear the two braided connectors for the front brake.

Both actually. The plastic bit catches the screen and the Aly backbome bits come within a couple of mm of the dash panal. (not a problem if I didn't have the heater control there.

I will just have to move it.

Not ridden with them yet but got a 500 mile trip this weekend so will know if my bars vibe any more then before.

My BB Storms don't foul anything, but then I have higher bars as well, so that may help.

(Well, actually they do clout the screen on one side, but that's because the bar risers are a bit pissed from an off-road drop and I've not got round to slackening everything off and realigning it. When the bars were straight it didn't foul)

Had the Acerbis multiplo fitted on mine, even after my crash only the plastic bit had marked so replaced the plastic with a different colour for about 15 .probably the best handguards on the market

I can only guess you have fit them wrong.

I have my heated grip controll on the black plastic cover behind the headlight.

Shock horror:tongue1:

Certainly not fitted them wrong! As I say, if I had original screen and no heater control there would onlly be a slight problem. Its the Aly bars in the kit that are too long. The coupling from bar clamp to barkbuster is way too long.

Edit just found out by looking on the BB site that Adventure spec have sold me the wrong BB's. There are 2 sets for the Tenere I have been sold the wrong ones. The ones they sold me need a new set of handlenbars. FaK(* great!

I will see how this gets handled by Adventure Spec
