Thanks Tony, & Javahouse much appreciated. I was surprised at how little after market screens are available for XT's.

I have just followed a link regarding cush drives, and found this screen also
http://www.off-the-road.de/XT-660/Bo...ld-XT-660.html

which may well be the Puig screen (looks very similar, if not identical), but manufacturer is not listed.

I think you guys are forgetting an XTX is a Supermoto :)

Stop riding so far on them :)

That is a Puig screen.

If you have a 2007 XTX or newer you have even less choice. TBH the 2004-2007 has loads of options, pick one to suit your riding.

I had the yamaha original screen, then the tall screen.
It (tall screen) makes the bike look ugly, like a flat fish:

But that's only how i feel :) Some people still like it.
And since im 190cm, it still doesn't help with the wind. In fact, it got worse, since all the wind is diverted straight to the helmet, so very much turbulence there.

Then I got a screen from OTR (since i did not have the original screen anymore): http://album.piipz.com/displayimage.php?album=11&pos=7

So the thing is, for tall and really tall people is actually better to use no screen at all :P The bike doesn't go much over 150km/h so there's not much difference. Straight wind onto helmet or chest is better than buffeting wind that is caused by a windscreen.

Of course, things are different, if you are shorter or you can handle a screen that tall, that the wind blows over your head.

I'm 6'7 and the screen makes a hugh difference. Don't get buffeting.

i'd agree that the large screen fitted to my bike is pig ugly but I also benefit from its protection. For me the function of the screen outweights its beauty on this occasion. I am 6ft exactly or 183cm in height and I get zero buffetting, no chest wind blast so it must be ideal for me.

Worth considering as the comments are all valid.

If all else fails, drive a car, no wind blast!!! (Joke BTW!)

I got mine from Skidmarx - Tall screen for about 45 - make sure you order a smoked one - the clear screen looks naff! However screen looked good but turbulence hitting helmet directly - much more noise and buffeting to the extent of not being able to ride with helmet visor up - so I cut the screen with a fret-saw to make it about 4-5 inches lower than the original - looks like a fly screen and no more turbulence -Cheers, StevieB

Which screen worked for me

Hello,

I'm really sensitive about any turbulence in my helmet, I just cannot stand it, so all of the touring screens are pretty much out for me. I bought the Yamaha smoked small screen, but it already was too high and the turbulence got me in the helmet. Additionally my 3rd party hand guards (aluminium frame ones) were in the way.

Solution, I cut out about an inch off from both side "flaps" and less than an inch from the top of the screen, making the screens top straight, not curved. This works like a charm for me. No turbulence and highway speeds are way, way nicer to drive. Only downside is the price of the screen, 70 for a piece of plastic is quite a lot. I made the screen so much smaller, that I did not have to use the extra braces it came with.
