If someone finds that luggage plate useful, that have made it cut out of steel plate 2-3 mm thick...

...than here is the plan to make it on your own. Hope this will be useful for somebody.

Bash plate

Hello, I have the bash plate manufactured.
Like I said in other thread...
Since I wasnt able to get one like I wanted, I decided to build it on my own.
First I did it with cardboard, than with 1 mm steel plate. Bend it, tape it to final form.
My friend later put it in AUTOCAD and gave it a plasma cut and some alu welding.
Its done, and I only have to bolt it on the bike.
If interest, we could make some more for any of you guys.

that looks very good!!! Are you going to make it out of semi-hardened ali? 5mm?

Mike Wright 13-02-11 08:49

Nice work..couple of questions.

Does it bolt to the existing location at the front and how will you attach the rear points?

Ni3ous 13-02-11 08:57

Its semi hardened, so will not bend too easy.
Will bend in hard hits, when it is supose to bend, to prevent bracket/engine damage.
Its made with 3 mm plate. Its a good compromise with weight/performance ratio.
It protects water pump wery good, and the side engine covers partially (bottom part, usually damaged from flying rocks) , it is all the way to the back of the engine, so the whole bottom is protected all the way to the rear spring bone.
In front it is not bolted on existing brackets, but I also made new brackets, to make it fit the best.
Rear point is maunted on existing spot with one additional bracket.
I wil probably find time to mount it next weekend. Will make some more photos to make it all clear.

It's looking good, I would be interested in getting one. What would you be selling them at??

Ni3ous 14-02-11 07:56

Not sure yet.
Have to fit it first, and evaluate the final fittment and build quality.
Will let you know, but I am sure it will be very good price/performance.
