Heated grips

I really need to get some heated grips on my tenere... This winter in victoria is killing my hands... What are you guys using?? I have barkbusters fitted.. Do I go for the Oxford heated grips... Do yamaha make one for the tenere.. I have read somewhere that the aux power behind the headlight is for heated grips.. It will be ideal to get ones that use that power... ????

I've just put a set on mine. I went for the oxford ones as they are the best available in my opinion. I also have barkbusters on mine and the two together are a perfect combination to keep my hands warm in the morning. I wired mine up directly to the battery. They come readily wired, just plug in a few plugs and hook it up to the battery terminals.

I would not touch Oxford grips again with a bargepole!!!! I have them for a year and was on my fourth set (for different reasons) by the time i had had enough. Got the dealer i got them from to change them for Daytona heated grips and to refund me the price difference. (Daytona`s were cheaper)
Have not fitted them yet to be fair but have searched the net and peoples reveiws of them seem good. A lot simpler setup by the look of it and less to go wrong.

I went for Sympatec heating elements. These stick to the handlebars and the original grips go back over the top. Apart from the switch, off/low/high, there is no outward signs of heated grips being fitted. I fitted them last year so they've only done one UK winter (was a cold one though), but so far so good. Much cheaper than Oxford too.:unibrow:

+1 for Symtec heated grips, have them on my XTX and the last 5 bikes i have owned, very very good, wouldnt touch Oxford with a barge pole personally.

Love my heated grips and apart from having a set on my honda deauville which where honda own ive been using oxfords heated grips. They seem to work well for me its only when you get to sub 0 temps that they struggle to heat up (but what isnt at sub 0 temps outside?)

I keep having problems though with my heated grips (even the honda one) the heat controller has always be the button/turn know type and they kept breaking and not turning the heated grips on!!!! (only ever hand one grip break) In 5 years ive had 3 heat controllers go. Now ive just bought a new set with the newish style two electric buttons (hold plus for 3 secs turns them on and then click up to go up down to go down and hold down 3 secs to turn off.) Will see how long these last. :033:

I had two controller boxes fail on the Oxfords. And two sets went back as the silver sticker on the front on the controller with the plus and minus buttons came unstuck and water got down the back and into the internals. Just my experience of them..

I have just had the Oxford heated grips fitted to my Ten (Which also has BarkBusters) I notoced the grips were upside down, as in the word "Oxford" is upside down on the grips. Does this make a difference with regards to where the heating element is? Also, they said they had a right ass fitting them due to the BarkBusters!?! The clumpy ends to the grips seem to take alot of room up and face upwards as they said they couldnt get them facing downwards. Also they fitted the controll panel to the barkbuster arm. Weird.

Do not use this, it's not man enough. Go straight to the battery via a fuse (as Roswellj says).
