My little slice on Kev's O2 Sensor and Fuel Mods
If you are not sure whether to get Kev's mods or not, just do it......
I am very new to the XT660 Family, with my stock as a rock 2009 Tenere with only 10 000km on the clock. Loving the bike a lot, but wasnt a huge fan of the surging on fine throttle control. Well.... Kev and this forum have done it all! A very quick 20 minute fix on the throttle cable as per: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...=throttle+grip Then a few very quick PM's with Mr Kev himself and in no time i was installing my two new mods. With both the Fuel Mod and O2 sensor mods done AS PER Kev's easy instructions i was running in NO time. Bike now feels SO much better, i cannot believe it. The throttle control is immensly better in all positions, but at low speeds it is butter smooth. The fuel and O2 mods set as instructed, right off the bat i could physically hear the bikes internals less rattly. Then under load and pulling up a hill, the bike just pulls smoother and spins with ease. These comments were totally my idea to help more of you out there see that with these cheap quick fixes you XT can be all it can be too! Those of you that havent already....GET ONTO IT GUYS and PM Kev to get yours now!!!! Thanks again Kev ______________ *** humanfly159 *** |

So you did not get the o2 controller just the fuel mod and the sensor 02 eliminator mod? Two mods in total? |

If you need more specifics on the O2 Controller have a read of: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...ght=controller Thats why i went the controller. If you need more specifics, have a read on older posts on this thread and you will fnid a tonne of info. Well worth the small effort to fit them. I personally did a little more taping the wiring to almost completely hide both mods. Why? Just because... Looks Factory unless you REALLY know what you are looking for. Are you running any other mods? I have decatted muffler and modded air intake a little. It all helps. Cheers |
FYI the links to the fitting instructions dont work..

I would be interested to find out where to get the Male and female plugs for the Co2 sensor. I reckon by fitting a couple of diodes in parrallel, would drop the voltage enough to tell the ECU it is lean, and hence richen it up a bit!

Fueling.
Hi, Just like to ask, what fuel map does the bike use when not in Closed Loop? Pretty easy to stop the bike from getting into closed loop, if it is dependant on the Temp being 70 deg + But what mapping exists then
|
Yip not hard to turn off the closed loop completely & keep the fan running at the correct coolant temperature, but will need a custom open loop map otherwise the bike will run too rich in the open loop if the ECU is constantly seeing the coolant temp in the warm up faze..
A set IAP & TPS maps tables are used in the open loop for each cylinder, with map bios switch points depending on throttle position. There are two sets for 2 cylinders mapping in all XT660 ECU's as the hardware was shared with other model Yamaha's IAP tables: http://i64.tinypic.com/2j0xovt.jpg TPS tables: http://i67.tinypic.com/10mj0ux.jpg Bios tables: http://i66.tinypic.com/34526hv.jpg |
Fuel Maps
Thanks Kev, The Charts look beyond me? and I do not have a PCV, but was curious what mapping would take place, if closed loop was disabled!
