UPDATE

I am sorry that there has been a very long gap time-wise, and no conclusion to this thread, yet. I will now try and rectify that.

Basically, to recap, I started with a Standard 2008 XTR, then fitted Carbon Cans, a Power Commander, and a DNA Stage 3 Airbox. I had several dyno's, but the Dyno I used had faulty equipment, (AF Meter), which meant my bike did not get tuned properly.

My tip for anyone getting a Dyno is always ask them if they have recently serviced/calibrated their AF Meter.
According to Dynojet, this AF meter should be serviced every 6 months.

When I tried to get the bike (re-)booked back in, the guy who does the Dyno was away quite alot, but the Boss said he would try and do it for me.

I haven't mentioned the name of this Dyno on this thread, as they have been willing to try and resolve the issue. And I am not giving them the opportunity to do it.

So, I have just got fed up/lost faith in that Dyno....and will shortly be Dyno'ing the bike elsewhere.

Unfortunately, this means we will not get an accurate "gain", as I will have used two different dynos. We will not be getting a fully optimised result either.(as all the tuning has been done with faulty equipment) Kev was keen for it to all be done on the same dyno, for a true "before" and "after" comparison.

So, I am a bit upset this cost me 180 and did not end the way I intended, but on the otherhand this thread has had some very interesting points and input.

Understandably, I haven't been that keen to pay another Dyno to do it either, until now that is, as I need to get a benchmark Dyno for my new mods. And after this benchmark Dyno, I will fit my new mods, and get my bike Custom Mapped. (and I don't trust the Dyno I have been using to do that!)

So this benchmark Dyno for my DNA Stage 3 Airbox will not be a fully optimised tune. I am only getting a "Power Run", not a "Custom Map".
It is a waste of more money to get it Custom Mapped, as my new mods, when fitted, have altered the state of tuning (new camshaft etc.)

The Dyno I will be using is brand new, as the Company I am using have just moved-in to a new location.

I am going to use one of Kev's maps, (thank you), and I hope that the results of the Dyno should be "near enough".
BUT, we have seen from this thread, that even if the AF is out by 0.7, it alters it 2hp!!!!!

I have changed my fuel back to 95 ron, as that is what Kev used for his map.
However, the climate in Australia is alot hotter than this country, and the mixes for 95 ron fuel vary country to country.

If Kev (?) could post a Standard XT dyno graph on this thread, when I have had a successful dyno, then there be a visual comparison for everyone to see.

I love my DNA Airbox, and if you are toying with getting one, just do it.

More very soon....just waiting to get a booking sorted.

That sucks, sorry to hear it :(
I did my own 'dyno' tuning on the TL with the DJ Wibeband Commander ... but I only know that it runs smoother :) not how much the power changed ...

Dyno Results

Here is my first dyno BASE RUN, a Standard XTR, but fitted with a Power Commander only, this is the result of the map supplied by Dynojet, that Simon of Powertech loaded on to my PC111. No AF settings were altered.

MAX POWER 42.80 MAX TORQUE 40.57

This is my bike, dyno'd yesterday at HM Racing, fitted with DNA Stage 3 Airbox, Carbon Cans, PC111, Kev's O2 Sensor Mod. Here I am using a map that Kev sent with the O2 Sensor Mod. This map could probably be fine-tuned, but I am now using this dyno run as a BASE RUN for my new mods, so this is how it is, not fully optimised I know, but a cracking result to boot.

MAX POWER 49.83 MAX TORQUE 47.84 ....a 7 hp gain, and a 7ft/lbs torque gain

and here is another run, taken all through the gears, against Speed.

Looks good to me.. although i know very little about Dyno stuff.

Well the bike does feel alot more powerful, and nicer.

The trouble with these two dyno's is 1. they were not done on the same dyno, and 2.....the correction factor on the dyno. (see the top right corner of each dyno sheet, where it says "CF".)

I don't know how many correction factors there are, but basically, one correction factor is UNCORRECTED- meaning that air temperature and humidity are as they are on the day.

On the first sheet, the CF is SAE
On my second and third sheet, the CF is DIN

Normally, if you were using the same dyno, they can make allowances between power runs taken at different ambient temperatures.

So say that you did a dyno in winter, where normally your bike should run a little better because of the colder air, you would be able to compare a dyno run that you did in the peak of the Summer, by using a Correction Factor. (so that the numbers are adjusted ON BOTH YOUR DYNO SESSIONS, to an ambient temperature of say 20 deg. C.)

Not sure if I explained that well enough, but that's the best I can do!

MAkes sense mate yeah

A nice little increase just dont total up all the cost of the mods to achieve it! As you say I bet it feels a load better to ride though and that is all that matters.

TBH, I just added a PCIII to my 100% stock bike and it is superb, yours must feel great. Can you wheelie on the throttle in second or third with these mods? Not that I condone such actions unless "off road" on "private land".

It does feel much better than if you just look at the figures...7 hp doesn't seem alot. But, it totally changes the bike.

DNA Airbox was 360, PC111 was cheap off Powertech (I can't remember,maybe225- 250??), Cans 350, First dyno run and custom mapping (which was no good) 180, and O2 Sensor Mod 57 delivered. TOTAL 1172.

So, if you just want the performance, and to do it cheaper, forget the Cans- I say, because the Airbox really is good, and makes the most power out of all, ..... Or, get the Cans, and DNA Stage 1&2.
But you do need a Power Commander, and really a Custom Map to get the best out of it. And an O2 Mod (if your bike is post 2007).

Or get second hand cans and PC111, and you will have to buy the Airbox and O2 Mod new, as those cannot be found second-hand.......

Got my xtr done at Pro Cycle Dyno in Slacks Creek just south of Brisbane. Really good guys.

The Green Line is the run when I got there already had Staintune slip ons (baffles in).

The red line is the addition of DNA Stage 1 & 2 Air Filters - +2.94HP (kinda keen to try the stage 3 after reading this thread!)

The blue line is the addition of the PCV and final map - +.87HP

Total from Air filters and PCV - +3.81HP

Total HP - 47.75
Max Torque - 45.74

Mods at blue line were staintune slips on, DNA 1&2, PCV with custom map.

I had Michelin T-63 Knobby tires on the bike - thats said to reduce the reading by a few HP.

The bike with all these Mods is like a new bike. Totally rips on the road, even with the knobbies. Money well spent!!!

Nice one mate, the Dyno shop is 10 min from my house.

Looks like you would be around 52HP with road tyres.
