Some bikes look great with rim tape (I alwasy have a little snigger at that :o), some look plain daft!
My bike for instance (knobblies, industial bash plate, war wounds), would look stupid with rim tape, but a nice clean, shiney X can look great. Just like a shiney X with knobblies wouldn't look right - IMO. |

I am pretty certain that you will have some degree of difficulty getting the rim tape to stick to your rims on the R. The finish on the wheel is rough unlike the X with its glossy finish. I had problems with my Tenere getting balancing weights to stick. The garage eventually gave up and returned my wheels unbalanced and gave me fitting FOC because of it!
