I know the CRD bashplate I have on my TTr makes a huge difference to the engine noise as it seems to amplify the noise and bounce it up at you.

just wonder if this is the case with the Ten changing from plastic to metal !:partyondude:

For sure. Alloy plates are well-known to amplify engine noises. However, TTRs are comparitively quiet in the engine department. Even so, mine will certainly get a bit of a clatter happening when it's red-hot.

I don't know about everyone elses Teneres, but mine is definitely not one of Yamaha's quieter motors. I guess roller rockers and no iron liner will do that to big singles. Noise is of no consequence when good engine protection is the upside imo.

One way of reducing the echoes if they bother you is to get some rubber sheeting, cut it to shape and attach it to the crankcase side of the bashplate.
