Hi Rick, i dont know about sun cream but you had better get the tinted visor out....

Have just come back from a day around Wales (again!!! second time this week) after fitting the HID 50 light kit on my dip beam. All i can say is this makes riding SO much easier as car drivers pulled to the left as i passed them so much i am thinking of changing my screen name to MOSES.....
Crystal clear blue/white light right to the end of the beam throw. A bit disconcerting at first seeing the beam pattern projected onto the road under heavy braking into bends IN BROAD DAYLIGHT......
Will have do something about filtering though as i came close to melting a few mirrors.
Two slight problems though today, will have to move the heated grip controller as this is now under the tank bag DOH.

A curly flexible power lead from the din socket in the fairing to tha SATNAV bag might be better as it will stretch then contract with the moment of the bars.

Have got "Dent" set up in the SATNAV fovourites already...... LOL

Nice one, it is a shame that Dent is soooooooooooooo far away from Somerset, I would have liked to come up and put some faces to names, maybe later on next year sometime, maybe a meet up at a campsite in wales who knows.

I got a PM from a forum member, He asked about the delay in the dip beam coming up to full power.I have replied but thought i would paste the reply here as well as i think it it relavent to the topic....... (listen to me i sound like a teacher now)

There is a slight delay till you get full brightness, perhaps 2-5 seconds, but even when the HID is "dim" and powering up it still puts out more than the standard bulb so you carnt be anyworse off.

To be honest i dont think you would ever need main beam again. I did try it in the car park between our house and the next block of houses, and there was such a loss of light plus the way the main beam is projected you are worse off from a lighting point of veiw.

Prior to fitting this kit i was running 100W blue tint bulbs that are mentioned in another thread somewhere. And to be honest they are a great improvement over stock bulbs. So i know that the wireing will handle 100W of power.
So on the basis of this i MIGHT in the future upgrade the main beam bulb to a 35W HID and rewire the dip so it stays on as well. But that would be a serious amount of light coming out of the front of your bike and might actually be a hazard to oncoming traffic!!!
Hope this helps...... Mark

Have been busy again this afternoon. Move the mount for the Hotgrip controller from under the SATNAV bag. I should have put it here to start with as it is a lot easier to use......

have also remade the power cable for the din socket to the female 12V connector, it is now a recycled shaver power lead. LOL........

Great mods and pictures really help Crusty, just got some 100 w bulbs from JMo so going to run with them as I can't afford the HID's yet as I need at least a new rear tyre but really want to swap to TKC's

Hi Stu,
thanks for the comments mate. I too ran the 100W bulbs for a couple of months before i splashed out on the HID kit, and to be honest they are 100% better than the standard bulbs and the wiring seems to be able to cope with the extra loading with no problems, so win,win i think......
