This pipe works quite well I tried the pipe out today. The bike was fitted with a Power Commander & DNA stage 1 filter, it definitely had much more low down torque then my bike which has two Carbon Cans system. My bike did have allot more mid to top end power. I think to be fair we need to fit the 2into1 with a Stage 2 filter so to compare apples with apples.

I will come back to you with some tests, as we will run it on the Dyno in a few weeks time.

Can anyone tell the difference?

cdo1uk 15-12-07 22:09

thats the best looking pipes i have seen by carbon cans, normaly the conecting pipe (ringed in picture) sticks out and imho looks a bit wrong...

shame they dont make the like that anymore

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...6546846454.jpg

CaptMoto 15-12-07 22:24

The fact is cdo1uk.... they don't make them like that AT ALL, the story behind the 2 pics is that the cans on Kev's bike are the ones which previously were on my bike. Last year Simon of CCC gave me a free set of stubbies to try as a prototype before they went on sale. Simon knew I already had link pipes on mines so he just sent me the end cans without the link pipes.

I then sent my original ovals to Kev as a present, of course without the link pipes. As soon as Kev received them in Brisbane he went on to have a set of link pipes built to measure and the result as you rightly say it's stunning. Also if I remember rightly Kev told me that these were built in a larger bore than the original, giving him a bit more bang for the buck.

cdo1uk 15-12-07 22:31

AHHH i see... i have seen the link pipes like that before with carbon cans, i love the sound of the CCC pipes just not the look of the link pipes, if they where like that on kevs i would have a set already

and yes.... stunning (coz its blue maybe :-) )

Kev 16-12-07 01:16

After Fran kindly donated me his old Cans, I got my friend who owns a company called Transzac to make up the link pipes. I told him the way I want them to routed & he did a good job.

He is going to make up my 36mm headers for me in April when I am on leave next. They will be the same size as the 1st stepped pipe on the link pipe. I want the headers to look something like this one that he made for another mate in Brisbane but not a 2 into 1, just smooth bends all the way to the Cans.

http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/2-3.jpg

Fran have you showed Simon the difference between the link pipes before, he may find it interesting.

The idea of a stepped link pipes is to get the exhaust gasses to start expanding before the reach the can & this produces more Torque & HP. I tried to get the bends to flow smoothly on the link pipes as for every bend you have, it slows the gas speed down.

CaptMoto 16-12-07 01:19

Kev take a pic for me of the link pipes once removed and I will show them to Simon and see what he says.

Kev 16-12-07 04:59

E-mail sent with photos.

I have wanting to upgrade for 6 months now & have not been able to get my hands on the new model, until now.

I am on to bike number 44, I always keep my bikes like brand new. Most people do not believe me when they see it, that it is a 04 model.

I got AUD$7000 which is about 3000 Pounds as a trade in, so I was happy. I also got AUD$1000 off the new price. I just can't wait now.

cdo1uk 16-12-07 13:04

thats a good price. i try to keep mine as tip top as i can. my last bike was a CCM 2001 model and was better than new.... look forward to seeing your new bike. and your front garden, coz its just as immaculate as your bike.

Just got round to fitting me CCCs with the help of Barney - amazing what 4 paws and a strong set of teeth can do to distribute dropped spacers/tools etc round the place.

Still in the box - I don't mind paying for quality goods but I am damned if I am going to give free advertising as well. Not much to be done about the standard Yamaha ones and I am still considering where best to stick the XT660.com ones (keep it clean!). As you know Blackie has only XT660.com stickers and I think he looks beautiful with them. Look even better when I get back to the UK and fit the CCC longs to him.

Cracking looking bike Dave, first XTR I have seen with those stubbies on.

maxwell123455 28-12-07 00:17

nice bike and cans. bet it sound LOUD AS FUSH. I am one of those people who plasters his top box with stickers but leaves the bike alone. It all started by getting myself a ace cafe sticker, then a nurgburing etc etc. Not gone over board yet but getting there.

And the hardest part of fitting
Getting the bloody rubber on the can brackets took me ages with sausage fingers

Kev 30-01-08 21:42

Now that looks smart.

Don't forget if you want to stop the pipes poping back on over run, block off you AIS pipe at the airbox.

I won't. Jeezzzzz!!! They look crap except for the last picture..............that looks even more crap!!! :puke:

Nice find though. Someone might buy some. Maybe that bloke over there with the white stick. [/joke]

Kev 07-02-08 11:36

At least someone is trying something different.

hod0017 07-02-08 12:05

so people too many brands and too many types!
Which type and band are THE most light weight and adds the most horse power to the bike and have a reasonable price ?
please advise! i have in mind akrapovic , and termignoni ..... as the best

ManicMic 07-02-08 12:22

Carbon Cans seem to be the most popular with the people on this forum. Akros are a better build quality but a lot more money. I've got carbon stubbies from Carbon Can Co myself and they look really good. I paid 300 for them when CCC put some up on ebay. I was going to get Akros but they were 600.

Hope this helps. Plus, I wasn't having a pop at you for posting those other cans earlier. I just think they are not very good looking and this forum is for opinions. That was my opinion. I think those pipes you posted wouldn't give you much of a power boost and would be quite quiet as the outlet looks about the same size as standard cans.

:dontknow:

Diplomatic?? blowup

hod0017 08-02-08 19:52

@ ManicMic when you say "Akros" you mean Akrapovic ? i think that only the SP series comes out for our bikes. save 6.5 kg compared to the stock exhaust system and gain 2.1 HP at 6000 rpm as the maker site says . Greek reseller gives them at 780 Euros .

Yes. Akros = Akrapovic.

I'm not sure but I think Carbon Can Co will export if you don't want to spend so much on Akropovic cans. May Captmoto can confirm that.

hod0017 08-02-08 20:08

WoW! that was quick. I have made that point to the greek section of the forum if anyone wants to buy Carbon Can Co pipes so that we can ask about price and shipping.Would be graceful if you confirm that.

CaptMoto 08-02-08 20:39

Yes they will ship to everywhere in the world, so far they have shipped as far as South Africa and New Zealand. Phone Carbon Cans Co and ask what is the price for shipment to Greece
